Mission Statement

Chapter 5 inspires followers to appreciate the beauty, complexity, and value of the natural and human world.

My Larger Goal

How can we create a world where we see and savor the best in each other?  During my travels – and my experiences before retirement – I struggled with the concept of “othering.”  Having taught in Spain, Italy, and California, I know most people care about similar things – having the health, energy, and resources to support themselves and their families while hoping to have something left for at least a little bit of fun.

My Steps in That Direction

Through travel, teaching, and reflection, I’ve come to understand myself as insignificantly significant — small in the sweep of history, yet consequential in the lives and moments I touch — and this awareness continues to call me toward grace: trying to treat others gently, allowing space for imperfection (including my own), and using my limited sphere to act with integrity, gratitude, and kindness by seeing clearly, sharing beauty, and choosing connection over othering.
